Fly fishing New Zealand : Client feedback

Dear Matt,

I've been meaning to write to thank you for such an excellent week in the most fantastic trout fishing place in the world. We'd been there twice before and the scenery was as stunning as ever, even more so with the fabulous places you took us! We both thoroughly enjoyed the company and camaraderie of the group, such great fun (remember the animal animation video clips that had us all in stitches). Finding us tremendous spots suitable for our level of experience was much appreciated and I've learnt so much from your guiding. The thrill of stalking, spotting, then watching that marvellous taking moment runs so deep it is one of life's best experiences and thats before the playing and landing, all in the most sublime scenery possible!

Please feel free to use any of the photos I send or give a link to for your own use for Fly Odyssey (they have a copyright notice on them). Thanks again for a fantastic time.

All the best,
Sarah Hodgkin

Montana The Field article and new Montana webpages

Toby Coe has just had a feature article published in The Field magazine on a trip we took to The Ranch at Rock Creek in central Montana last summer. You can read it in the APRIL issue of the magazine which should be on the shelves Thursday.

The Ranch is one of the finest properties I have stayed in, set in a stunning remote valley and has some pretty spectacular fishing on it's property and surrounding areas. It also has a hugely diverse range of activities, from skiing in the winter to a vast array of outdoor pursuits (mountain biking, clay shooting, hiking, wildlife viewing, scenic floats) in the summer making it an ideal location for family gatherings. In the evenings the entertainment continues with a cinema, bowling alley, cocktail and ranch style bars.

If visiting Montana this really is a place worth seeing. For more information please visit our MONTANA PAGE on the Fly Odyssey website or you can call us on +44 (0) 1621743711.

Fly Fishing Christmas Island: Client Feedback

Some good feedback from a recent clients visit to Christmas Island. Our client has now spent a total of 4 weeks on Christmas island in the past 10 months so has a good understanding of the situation on the island. As mentioned below The Villages now has 1 guide per angler and still provides the best quality accommodation on the island and most experienced guide team.

Matt,

I had a wonderfully trip. If anything better than last time. The fishing on Christmas Island is getting better and better due to the locals no longer netting on such a large scale as they used to.

The chumming still endures from the other lodges I'm afraid, and it seems the villages stands alone in a sporting attitude. Tenanaki is without doubt the best guide I have ever fished with, and the day I spent with him will live long in the memory.

The villages has now adopted a one angler to one guide policy, which can only improve people's catch rates. Most guides are very good. The villages is a lodge for the hardcore, no frills angler, but must represent the best value quality guided bonefishing on the planet.

Cassidy international airport now has landing lights! So no more stranded anglers! (No more free weeks bonefishing courtesy of Air Pacific for me).

I will forward some photos of my trip within the next few days. Thanks for all your help Matt.

Regards
Ian Rouault.

Fly Fishing New Zealand : Client Feedback

Hi Mat,

I said last year that the trip had been marvellous amongst other things. You always manage to improve the visit. Each year gets better and better.  If only you had better control over the weather, then all would be quite perfect. Your unbelievable enthusiasm is infectious and makes the fishing all the more pleasurable. You manage to put the big fish in front of me and obviously have had a word with most of them so I can catch them.

The guides, as always do an excellent job, and their sense of humour is most welcome, mind you they would be hard to keep up with if they were in their 20's, they are so keen to put a fish in front of you. I fished on new rivers of extreme beauty with joy, always encouraged by you, the guides and the other guests. The other guests have always been such fun and certainly enliven the holiday. I am very glad that vets can be counted on for a bit of human doctoring. Thank you Cav for holding my hand....still, I never felt a thing when the hook came out or afterwards.

Even with the odd cold front coming in you still found fishable water and with 95% of the fish in perfect condition I could ask for no more. I look forward to returning next year for another challenge. No doubt I will see the Black Stilts again just to put the icing on my cake.

Thank you for my party and a belated Happy Birthday to Georgie. The CLA Game Fair gets closer where hopefully some of us will get together again. Thank you for providing a holiday that will always be remembered. Good fishing, good company and worth going to the other side of the world for.

Thank you
Dormer
